WiFi FAQ and Troubleshoot Section

If you signed up for our WiFi, please send us a text or picture to the Buildium number.
Once you have all the information needed.

How to setup your WiFi:

Send us your MAC addresses (also known as WiFi addresses) of each device you want to add to the WiFi so we can provide you access to our secure router.

Sending a screenshot or picture of your MAC/WiFi address will be helpful.

The MAC address is a unique number for each device and its WiFi.

As mentioned before, text this information to us via the Buildium number we use to contact you.

Once we have added your device(s) to our secure router, we will text you back with the login information.

Here are the links to help you find your MAC address for the most common devices.

Most modern cell phones or computers try to use a private MAC address for security purposes, for example when you connect to a public Wifi at the coffee shop to protect yourself. This is not needed here and we do need your true MAC address.

If you still need help finding the MAC address, just text us and we will help you get everything set up.

WiFi Troubleshooting:

If you signed up for our WiFi, provided us with your MAC address(es) and you have issues connecting to our router with a specific device, please follow these troubleshooting steps to solve possible issues that are coming from your side.

Here are some links that help you with detailed instructions to solve possible problems on your end with your device.

For any other device, please do a Google Search since we cannot list each single device here.

WiFi Rules:

You are allowed to have 4 connections total.
Example: We can connect 4 of your devices in total. One PC, one laptop, one phone, one gaming console.
Example: We will not connect a 5th device, for example a Smart TV in addition.
When you provide us with the MAC addresses for your devices, let us know what kind of device it is.
Example: MAC Address: 04:EC:3D:4G:55:01, Smart TV.
MAC Address: E5:47:68:5H:33:7D, iPhone, etc.

You are NOT allowed to set up Wi-Fi connection from any of the major cable/internet companies to the home for your connection.
EXCEPTION: If you have your own Wi-Fi connection that does not go through any of the major service companies that would come out to connect any of their materials to the home.
Based on the limits of devices the router can hold, effect on overall performance, etc, you can and will have a restriction on the number of devices you can use at any given time.
If the average amount of devices connected to the router is either preventing others to have a fair share on the router, it reduces the performance of the connection overall or any other matter that can arise, we will have to make the adjustments that work best for everyone based on these possible parameters that will be determined to the management’s discretion.

If you have issues connecting to our Wifi, we will try our best to help you get the problem fixed within our capabilities. If the issue is not resolved and the problem has been assessed that it’s probably not on our end, you will have to contact customer support of your device or any outside services capable of helping you sort through the issue.
Once this is done and you need us to reboot the router to get a fresh connection, we would be happy to do so.
If we’ve determined (usually remotely) that our WiFi is working correctly, we can try to help you and troubleshoot your connectivity issues, but the cost for this help will be $50, which does not guarantee that the problem will be resolved.
Troubleshooting devices are very time consuming since this is your device that you have handled.
The cost doesn’t even cover our time even when the effort is made.
We have been able to ressove most issues but we cannot and will not be responsible for connection issues that are outside of our control.

ILLEGAL USAGE OF THE INTERNET ACCORDING TO THE LAW:

More and more Optimum is cracking down on illegal use of downloads of files from the internet.

We have received letters in the past with warnings of copyright infringements consistently happening on our WiFi connection.

Recently it reached the point that Optimum temporarily stopped our services because of this.
They wanted us to acknowledge that they sent a warning about this and also warned that the penalty can be much more severe if it continues to happen.

Going forward, be sure you are not downloading illegal files from online or using any intellectual property they did not give you the full rights to use/download where you are free and clear to use.
If we do find out that you are downloading these files and puts everyone’s connected to WiFi service in danger of being shut off, we will have no other choice but to disconnect you from the WiFi PERMANENTLY.
Here’s an example of what we received on our computer screen when they shut us off: —>>>

YOU WILL BE HELD FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE OF MISUSE OF THE WiFi:

If you’ve broken the rules of these terms and or the interference of our WiFi was negatively affected due to your misuse through our WiFi connection, then you will be responsible for the cost of this disruption whether by cost determined by the management of the inconvenience to our time, efforts, to others, etc, any charge we incur due to this issue/s, etc.

This charge will be due immediately once management has finalized the fees, and this must not be borrowed against your last month’s fee or security deposit unless you are already moving out and you do not have any other balances that would be outstanding after the confirmed return of deposit period has passed.

We do not care what you watch, as long as it’s not going to disrupt our service in the slightest way.
Optimum can simply go in and see exactly what you’ve downloaded and with all data surrounding it along with historical details, in multiple analytical color graphs, etc. —>

So to sum things up, please stay clear of these issues so this side of the discussion never has to be brought up to you at all.
